GYTA53 fiber optic cables are constructed with a 250μm optical fiber sleeved in a loose tube made of high modulus material and filled with a waterproof compound. At the center of the core is a metal reinforcement, which for some core numbers is extruded with a layer of polyethylene (PE). The loose tube (and filler rope) is twisted around the center reinforcement core to form a compact and round core, with gaps in the core filled with water-resistant filler. Plastic-coated aluminum tape (APL) longitudinally wrapped and extruded on a layer of polyethylene inner jacket, double-sided plastic coated steel strip (PSP) longitudinally wrapped and extruded polyethylene sheath into a cable.
