LSZH cables, known as Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSZH) cables, include PVC single-core AWA armoring and XLPE multi-core SWA armoring, which are commonly designed for use as auxiliary power cables in power grids and in a variety of environments. The armoring means that they can be buried directly in the ground to prevent accidental impact and damage.

Our LSZH Cable Products

ZMS cables provide comprehensive LSZH sheathed cables, which are commonly used in fixed installations, such as wiring in buildings. Used in applications where fire and smoke emissions can pose a potential threat to human health or important equipment.

300/500V XLPE insulated, LSZH sheathed power cable (single core)

LSZH Power Cable

Conductor: Plain annealed copper, multi-stranded to IEC (EN) 60228 class 2.
Sheath: Thermoplastic LSZH compound, BS (7655-6.1 standard (LTS3 type (thermoset LSZH compound, BS 7655-2.6 standard SW2-SW4 also available).
Standard: BS 7211 / IEC 60502-1 LSZH variant

600/1000V XLPE insulated, LSZH jacket, shielded power cable (4 cores)

LSZH Armoured Cable

LSZH armored cables in this version significantly reduce electromagnetic noise interference, especially in variable speed drive (VSD) applications and between fixed conductors during production. Steel wire armoured cables with LSZH outer sheath, compliant with BS 6724 (the LSZH equivalent of BS 5467). Required for underground and mechanically protected installations in tunnels, rail, and public buildings.

Standard: BS 6724 / IEC 60502-1 LSZH

Flame Retardant Total Shielded Instrumentation Cable (Multi-Core)

Flame Retardant LSZH Control & Instrumentation Cable

Multi-core LSZH sheathed control and instrumentation cables for process control systems, building automation, and fire alarm auxiliary circuits in fire-sensitive environments. In the industrial production process of communication, data and sound transmission signals and services, also used for interconnecting electrical equipment and instruments, LSZH sheathing can reduce the emission of toxic fumes and smoke.

Standard: IEC 60332 / BS 5308 LSZH variant

H07V-K structure

H07Z-K & H05Z-K Single-Core Flexible Wire

Halogen-free, single-core flexible LSZH wires for internal fixed wiring, panel wiring, and building installations where fire safety compliance is required. Available in 1.5mm² to 16mm².

Standard: EN 50525-3-21 / VDE 0245

Is LSZH Cable Required for Your Project?

LSZH cables are often required in projects where fire safety regulations are strict, especially in public and enclosed environments. Requirements vary by region and application.

Where LSZH Cable Is Required?

  • Airports, metro systems, tunnels, Hospitals and public buildings
  • Commercial complexes and high-rise buildings
  • Marine and offshore installations
  • Tunnels (B1ca or B2ca required), public buildings (Cca or higher), industrial sites (Dca or higher), residential buildings (Eca or higher)
  • Power cables and fire alarm system cables laid along escape routes
  • Cabling for emergency lighting lines, hospitals and public buildings

Main International Standards for LSZH Cable

  • NFPA 130 / GCC Code – Railways, transport systems, public infrastructure
  • CPR (EN 50575) – EU construction product regulation (Cca / B2ca / Dca levels)
  • BS 8519 / BS 7629 / BS 7671 – UK fire-resistant cable systems

How to Know If You Need LSZH Cable?

  • Project fire safety requirement documents
  • Local building codes
  • Engineering consultant specifications
  • Application environment (indoor / confined space)

If your project is in one of the above-mentioned areas or application scenarios, LSZH cables may be mandatory rather than optional. Tell us your project location and application type, and our engineers can help you determine if LSZH is required and recommend specific models that comply with local regulations.

LSZH Cable Applications

Metro Rail & Underground Tunnels
Metro Rail & Underground Tunnels

In the event of a fire, minimal smoke and zero halogen gas release are critical for passenger evacuation and emergency response. ZMS supplies B1ca/B2ca rated LSZH cables compliant with NFPA 130 and EN 50575.

Recommended Requirements: NFPA 130 / EN 50575 B1ca–B2ca / BS 8519

Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities
Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities

Medical facilities require LSZH cables to protect patients who cannot self-evacuate and to preserve critical medical equipment in the event of fire. ZMS LSZH power and control cables meet the enhanced fire safety requirements of healthcare applications.

Recommended Requirements: GCC Civil Defense / BS 8519 / NFPA 101

High-Rise Buildings & Towers
High-Rise Buildings & Towers

LSZH cables are specified for escape routes, emergency power circuits, and public areas in high-rise buildings in GCC countries and Europe. Cca or Dca rated LSZH cables are required for fixed wiring in stairwells, corridors, and lift shafts.

Recommended Requirements: GCC Fire Code / CPR Cca/Dca / UK Building Regs
