NYY cable is a kind of common power cable, and its models NYY-J and NYY-O are widely used for fixed laying, which is suitable for indoor, tunnel, pipe and other occasions. The following is a detailed introduction of NYY cable’s structure, specific model and its application:

ToggleStructure of NYY cable

Conductor: Copper (Cu) or aluminum (Al) is used as the conductor material, with copper conductors being more common. The conductor can be a single-core or multi-core structure.
Insulation: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is used as the insulating material, with good electrical insulation properties and mechanical strength.
Sheath Layer: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is also used for the outer sheath, providing additional mechanical protection and environmental resistance.
Filler layer (multi-core cables): In multi-core cables, there is usually filler material between the conductors to maintain the roundness and mechanical stability of the cable.

NOTE: NYY cables are typically only used in low voltage power systems (0.6/1 kV) and are not suitable for medium or high voltage scenarios. Medium and high voltage cables are often made of different designs and materials than NYY to meet higher voltage levels and insulation requirements. Such as cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and copper tape shielding.
Hot Models of NYY Cables
Number of Cores | Models | Example | Voltage |
Single Core Cable | NYY-J 1x… | NYY-J 1×50 (denotes single core with a cross sectional area of 50mm²). | 0.6/1kV low voltage cable |
Multi Core Cable | NYY-J 2x… NYY-J 3x… NYY-J 4x… NYY-J 5x… | NYY-J 3×25+1×16 (means 3 phase wires of 25mm² plus 1 ground wire of 16mm²). | |
Special Models: NYY-O Round cable; NYY-J Cable with an earth conductor. |
Main Applications of NYY cables

ZMS Advises You How to Choose
1. Current Loading: Select the appropriate conductor cross-section area according to the actual load current to avoid overloading.
2. Laying Environment: When laying directly buried, choose the sheath type with higher mechanical strength according to the radiation environment.
3. About Multi-Core Cables: select the number of cores according to the demand of the equipment, for example, three-phase equipment usually needs 3-core or 4-core cables.
